Client: Holy Hill Art Farm Event: Flannel Fest & Chili Cook-off Since this event is held at an “art farm” where art and creating art is celebrated, I hand-created my own assets using watercolor and gouache as inspired by the examples in this style board. The watercolors paintings are bright and cheerful yet sophisticated and adult-focused which fit for this event for adults 21 and older. Choosing vegetables that are used to make chili carried through the main focus on the evening and is again a nod to the venue which is outdoors farm/barn setting. The muted background color of the poster allowed the watercolor vegetables to take center stage and for their colors to pop out. The watercolor flannel pattern on top and bottom add warmth and coziness. The vegetables interact with the type and the flannel, bringing it together cohesively. For the typeface, I chose various weights of Questa Slab for the header and Questa Sans for the body copy. The slab serif conveys a strength and boldness that one would expect from spicy chili while also a playfulness of an evening to kick back decked out in flannels. The color palette is drawn from the colors lifted out of the paintings by InDesign.
